Siem Reap, Cambodia

TEFL built on real classroom time.

Most TEFL courses put you in front of students twice. Ours gives you more than 25 counted teaching moments — with trainer feedback after every single one.

Real reps. Real feedback. Every time.

Most TEFL courses put you through a token teaching practice or two before handing you a certificate. We built the Classroom Apprenticeship around volume — you’re teaching constantly, and a trainer is watching and correcting every single session.

Tier 1 Peers. Low stakes, high frequency. Get the reps in before the real thing.
Tier 2 Peers as students. Structured role-play with real lesson planning.

Built for people who want a real career change.

Not a gap year filler. Not a box-ticking exercise. If you’re serious about teaching English abroad, this is where you start.

Career changers

You’re done with the current path. Teaching abroad is the move. You want a certification that actually prepares you — not one that looks good on paper.

Adventure-seekers with a plan

You want to be in Southeast Asia. You want it to be meaningful. Teaching gives you the income, the routine, and the reason to stay.

Native English speakers

We primarily place graduates from the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and South Africa. No degree required for Cambodia.

If you’re from outside these countries, we’ll tell you honestly about placement difficulty before you invest anything. We’d rather lose a sale than set you up to fail.

What graduates say.

I gained real teaching skills. The support from Willie was incredible. I highly recommend this course.

Frequently asked questions.

Do I need a degree to teach English in Cambodia?

No. A degree is not a legal requirement for teaching English in Cambodia, which is one of the reasons Siem Reap is a practical first posting for career changers. You will need a recognised TEFL certification — which is what we provide.

What is The Classroom Apprenticeship?

It’s our proprietary training method. Rather than sitting through theory and teaching twice, you complete more than 25 counted teaching moments across three escalating tiers — peers, structured role-play, and real Cambodian students. A trainer observes every rep and debriefs with you after each one.

What’s the difference between the three programmes?

The Classroom Apprenticeship is the full 4-week course for people starting from scratch — no TEFL certificate required. The Fast Track is 3 weeks for people who already hold a recognised 120-hour TEFL or TESOL certificate and want real classroom practice before placement. The Hybrid combines an accredited online TEFL course with the Fast Track practical — one package, one price, for people who want to qualify and get hands-on experience without two separate commitments.

How does placement support work?

Placement support is included in all three programmes and continues until you are placed — it is not time-limited. We work with a network of schools in Cambodia and across Southeast Asia, match candidates based on profile and experience, and support you through the interview and contract process. Placement is never offered as a standalone service.

Does my existing TEFL certificate qualify for the Fast Track?

It needs to be a minimum 120-hour TEFL or TESOL certificate from an accepted provider. Not all certificates qualify — Universal TEFL and Teacher Record certificates, for example, are not accepted. Contact us before applying and we’ll confirm eligibility straightforwardly.

I’m not from the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or South Africa. Can I still apply?

Possibly — but we will be honest with you about placement difficulty before you invest anything. The schools we work with primarily seek native English speakers from those countries. If you’re outside that list, we’d rather have a direct conversation about your specific situation than take your money and set you up to struggle.

What does the cost cover?

The programme fee covers all training, certification, and placement support. It does not cover flights, accommodation, food, visa costs, or personal expenses during your time in Siem Reap. We are upfront about this so you can budget properly before you commit.

How do I get started?

Email us at admissions@destinationtefl.com. We’ll ask you a few straightforward questions about your background, timeline, and which programme you’re considering. From there we can confirm eligibility and talk you through next steps. No pressure, no sales pitch.

Let’s talk about your next move.

No pressure, no sales pitch. Tell us where you’re starting from and we’ll tell you honestly whether this is the right fit.

We typically reply within 1–2 business days.
