Teach English in Thailand | Why do your TEFL course in Bangkok, Thailand?

- Bangkok is a city unlike any other! A 10-minute drive from our center will take you to some of the most beautiful temples in the world including the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, then another 5 minutes takes you into the glitz and glamor of Siam Square. It really is the best of both worlds!
- You’ll get a local’s perspective. You may have been to Bangkok before, but we promise you’ll see a side of the city you’ve NEVER experienced before. This is the Bangkok that tourists don’t get to see…
- Bangkok is easy to get to! Because it’s such a travel hub, Bangkok is the cheapest city in Southeast Asia to fly into. Tourism is a vital part of the Thai economy, so visas are also very easy to obtain.
- It’s easy to make friends! Bangkok has one of the best nightlife scenes in the world, as well as clubs, organizations, sports, and communities of all kinds. You can easily make friends from all around the world, as well as local Thais who share your hobbies and interests!
- Traveling is calling! Starting in Bangkok makes traveling to the rest of Thailand a breeze. You can get flights to Chiang Mai or Phuket for as low as $40, and it only takes about 90 minutes to get to either location. You can also take trains and busses to anywhere in the country for as little as $10!
- Bangkok is a foodie’s heaven. Obviously, the Thai food in Bangkok is unbelievable, but because we are such a global travel hub ex-pat communities from every country in the world call Bangkok home. You’ll find authentic food from everywhere imaginable (Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Halal, Italian, etc.) owned and operated by locals from those places.
- Bangkok has SO much to do! Some of the activities within 15-20 minutes of our center include Muay Thai, floating markets, night markets, board game cafes, three parks, four yoga studios, laser tag, stand-up comedy venus, live music venues, two skate parks, and a wakeboarding park
- Bangkok has some of the coolest coffee shops in the world! Get those cameras ready, because Bangkok coffee culture is on the rise and picturesque coffee shops are all the rage. We’ve geotagged over 50…within a 15-minute drive from our center.
- You don’t need to worry about forgetting anything! Whether it’s clothing, electronics, or even vaccines, there is nothing you can’t find in Bangkok. It takes a lot of pressure off preparing knowing that anything you forget can be found in Bangkok.
- Teaching practicums unlike any other! Some of our teaching practicums now take place at Wat Pho, which is a UNESCO world heritage site and is considered one of the oldest public universities in the world!
What is the salary for teaching English in Thailand?
- Salaries range from $900 to $2,800 depending on qualifications and experience. The average entry-level salary is around $1,100. These aren’t the highest salaries in the ESL world (you’ll want to head to the Middle East for those), but most people don’t come to Thailand to get rich, but rather to find a lifestyle of balance, happiness, and simplicity.
- It’s often said that Thailand has the best balance in the world when comparing the cost of living to quality of life.
- You can get a decent apartment for between $200 and $350 a month (or a luxury condo with an infinity pool and a sauna for around $400). A beer out can be as little as $1, and you eat like a local, food is about the same.

Can you teach English in Thailand with no degree?
- A Bachelor’s degree is required by the Thai government to legally obtain a work permit teaching in Thailand.
- Don’t have a degree? No problem! If you still want to experience Thailand, you have the option to do your TEFL course in Bangkok, and we can assist with placement in Cambodia. Cambodia is the ONLY country in SE Asia where you can LEGALLY teach without a degree. Of course, you do need a TEFL certificate, and this is where we come in. Destination TEFL is dedicated to creating passionate teachers in SE Asia. Alternatively, you can stay on after the course in Thailand as a digital nomad and teach English online. Some online teaching companies take non-degree holders.
- Have a degree? Either stay on to teach English in Thailand and have the pick of jobs, or participate in one of our ‘see 2 countries’ programs – study in Thailand and then teach in Indonesia, Cambodia or Vietnam.
