Destination TEFL is a firm believer in the theory that the best teachers are those who continue to learn. Professional development is key within our company and our academic department stays on top of the latest trends in the ESL industry, by way of collaborations, webinars, and weekly team meetings with our Head of Academics, Kathryn Webb.
While awards are great, and we appreciate the pat on the back that we run a solid TEFL programme, this is not the reason why we as an organisation, and as individuals do what we do.
Why Destination TEFL?
OUR PURPOSE:
Destination TEFL provides quality TEFL courses in bucket-list destinations. Enabling others to realise their dreams of experiencing another culture whilst enriching themselves and that culture.
For better or worse, English is the language of international opportunity, and by teaching it we are empowering more people around the world to take those opportunities, follow their dreams, and make the world a better place. Speaking and understanding English opens so many doors from travel, work, literature, to information and knowledge.
OUR CAUSE:
Each generation is feeling less and less connected to the people around them, yet the need for connection makes humanity who we are. We want to help bring the genuine connection back to the forefront of our student’s behaviour.
English is the unified language – and by producing qualified teachers who are equally as passionate about the language, we increase English language learners’ chances of both working and studying abroad. We are change-makers through Education, working together as a truly global society. And the only way to do that is through communication.
OUR BELIEF:
Teaching English as a foreign language goes far beyond the classroom and it’s a real tool for having a huge positive impact on the lives of so many people. Good communication skills are key when it comes to solving many problems. It helps connect people from all over the world, gives them an opportunity to learn about different cultures, helps them grow professionally and personally, pushes them out of their comfort zone and encourages them to be lifelong learners.
An experience abroad is invaluable on so many levels. It builds resilience, tenacity, adaptability, open-mindedness, discomfort, and character that will mould the lives of our TEFL trainees. It IS life-changing.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO?
Destination TEFL exists because up to this point international English education has suffered from teachers who have great intentions, but are completely ill-prepared and unequipped to prepare and execute engaging meaningful classes.
By providing an affordable, challenging, and effective experience for our teachers, we are enabling them to be confident, and well-equipped to face challenges and make a real impact. It will change both the lives of our teachers AND every student they go on to teach.
