We are overjoyed and proud to announce that Destination TEFL has been selected as a top finalist for the 2024 GoAbroad Innovation Awards! We’ve been recognized in not one, but two prestigious categories: Innovation in Philanthropy and Innovative TEFL / Teach Abroad Program.
Being chosen as a finalist is a humbling nod to the hard work, dedication, and innovative approach we’ve embraced in our philanthropic journey. Project Starfish, which has been at the heart of our mission, is a testament to what we can achieve together. It began with a dream of making a difference in the lives of the children at the “Child’s Dream Community School” in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Today, it stands as a beacon of the transformative power of education and community effort.
Our journey didn’t stop at infrastructure. We reimagined education with a revamped curriculum and a unique two-week teaching experience for our TEFL trainees. This hands-on approach has not only enriched the educational landscape for the children but also provided our trainees with invaluable real-world teaching experience.
Moreover, our commitment to supporting local educators by contributing to their salaries underscores our dedication to sustainable, community-driven change. By acknowledging the value of local teachers, we ensure the longevity and quality of education, empowering the community from within.
We’re not just finalists; we’re storytellers of a narrative where every individual can make an impact. We’re advocates for an approach to philanthropy that intertwines with practical, on-the-ground training and education.
